Amenajările hidrotehnice din Banatul Montan - Repere de arheologie industrială

  • Subiect: The issue tries to present a part of the rich industrial heritage in the Mountainous Banat, the south-western part of Romania. As an industrial region since the 18th century, with a rich hydrographic net and a substantial hydropower, it was the region to combine all the conditions in order to build there many power stations, from 6 HP to 230 HP/unit. If the mechanic and electric equipment had been initially bought from abroad, it was later realized in the region, as the unique Romanian units to make electric equipment were in Reşiţa (U.C.M.R.), with a branch in Timişoara (an independent unit nowadays for electro mechanic outfits), and Caransebeş (Caromet S.A). We may add that the Polytechnic Institute in Timişoara has also a large tradition in the field of the hydroelectric equipment.
