O monetă dacică inedită din judeţul Sălaj

  • Subiect: AN UNPUBLISHED DACIAN COIN FROM THE SALAJ DISTRICT The paper deals with a dacian coin, found in the Gălpîia village, Sălaj district (see f. n. 1). The coin is kept in the Museum of Zalău. The type as such belongs to the Northern Transylvania and is mainly represented by issues in rhe hoard of Medieşu Aurit (see f. n. 2). It differs by its larger, somewhat scythe flan and by X shaped ornament, on the reverse. The ornament was adopted' under the influence of the dacian issue represented by the coin Dess, III, 775, belonging to the Crişeni-Berchieş type (see f.n. 7). The coin of Gălpîia is of low alloy of silver. This coin, together with OTA, 333/1 and All, II, 16, 18-19, represent late variants dated toward rhe middle of the second1 century B.C. of the issues present in the hoard of Medieşu Aurit (see f.n. 2). Key to plate: the coin (1 x; 2 x). See p. 34; plate XIV, 2.
