Acte notariale din Transilvania (1850-1918). Conţinut şi tipologie

  • Subiect: Notarial acts from Transylvania (1850-1918). Content and typology No author has written a history of the Transylvanian notariat in modern times, starting from notarial archives. One explanation can be the difficult nature of the endeavor. The research is the interface between history, law sciences, sociology, economics, anthropology, genealogy and requires knowledge of the languages of the sources - Hungarian and German. The goal of this article is to make a general description of the notarial documents in Transylvania at the middle of the XIXth century. Primary sources, large and diverse, allow reconstruction of a wide spectrum of economic, social, demographic and cultural variables. Following the French model of Jean-Paul Poisson, notarial documents were classified into three categories: acts on family and family patrimony, reale estate acts and economicfinancial documents. Wills, donations, wealth inventories, marriage contracts and dowry contracts, sales-and-purchase contracts, divisions and heritage renouncing, reconciliation between brothers, they all have significant historical importance as they provide accurate and relevant information about the successoral transmission system in Transylvania. Two case studies will provide an inventory at microregional level. The target group is the notaries from Mureş and Braşov counties. Together with priests and teachers, the notaries were emblematic characters in the rural and urban areas. Dealing with this topic implies building up a database of historical data, seen as the starting point for further investigations.
