Segmente socio-heraldice din istoria nobilimii: tricentenar Samuel baron von Brukenthal (1721-1803)

  • Subiect: Socio-heraldic segments from the history of nobility: Samuel baron von Brukenthal tricentenary In 2021, the Brukenthal Museum will celebrate three hundred years since the birth of its founder, Samuel Baron von Brukenthal (1721-1803), Governor of Transylvania (1777-1787). For this reason, this paper is dealing with a number of issues, starting with the first stepts in the history of heraldry, then with a new fenomenon, the French Salon, which flourished in the life of the seventeeth-eighteenth centuries great nobility. Those times used to be the very historical moment for the birth of a new social class, of so-called „noblesse de robe”, or „Beamtenadel” in German, that of professional functionaries. A similar, but still a different phenomenon took place in the Tzarist Russia during Peter the Great's reign. At the end, the author wishes to prove that heraldry is not only a discipline of its own, but also a source of inspiration for artists, mainly for those who belong the Surrealism.
