Constantin Vodă Brâncoveanu în contextul contemporaneităţii sale româneşti

  • Subiect: Written at the anniversary of 300 years since the beginning of the rule of Constanlin Vodă Brâncoveanu, this study analyses his great achievements as an outstanding representative of the Romanian people, as a supporter of the Christian Peoples in the Balkans and of the Eastern Orthodoxism. It speaks about the durable economic relations which Wallachia kept up with Transylvania and Moldavia, about the political and cultural relations promoted by the ruler Brâncoveanu between 1688-1714. Based on a rich informational badeground- chronicles, documents, notes of foreign visitors, maps- the study point sout the complementary character of the economy in the Carpathian countries. Among these, Transylvania continued to represent the main producer of tools, hausehold objects, textiles, weapons, jewels, while Wallachia and Moldavia kept sending kettle, fish, fur, cereals, wax, honey over the mountains, at the same time easying the transit of oriental products to the Transylvania towns. Although competed by the Viennese manufacturing production, the Transylvanian handicraft centres carried on their activity thapks to important orders from Wallachia and Moldavia.
