Boierimea în catagrafia oraşului Bucureşti din 1810-1811

Subiect: The catagraphy of the town of Bucharest drawn by the Russian military officials between 1810 and 1811 gives a very accurate image of the position which the privileged class of the boyars held in the capital of Wallachia. The ranks of this social category are classified, from the great boyars to the smaller ones who were very much alike the bourgeois and were - many of them - rather poor. This mirrors the final stage in the existence of the aristocracy who disappeared in 1858 as a consequence of the Paris Convention. This paper is based on the documents existent in the archives of Moscow and includes many annexes containing detailed data cocerning the position of all the boyars in Bucharest at the beginning of the 19th century.
