Descoperiri arheologice din secolul IV e.n. în Depresiunea Neamţ

  • Subiect: In this article, the author presents the archaeological discoveries characteristic of the IVth century A.D. in Neamţ Depression. Due to the archaeological diggings and the surface researches, there were discovered 10 settlements of the Sântana de Mureş culture and 2 necropoles belonging to the Carpathic Cairns culture (CTC). The settlements are located on the slopes of the hills and on the banks of the rivers. Numerous archaeological materials were salvaged from the settlements: pottery, objects of horn and glass. The pottery was made by wheel and by hand. The most common pottery types are: the mugs, the bowls, the vessels for provisions. Some vessels were decorated with lines incised in waves and with horizontal girdles. The necropoles are located on the north side of the depression, on the left bank of the Neamţ (Ozana) river. Thirty-four cairns were identified in the first necropole and nine cairns were examined in the second one. The funeral rite is cremation. The inventory of the cairns was made up by pottery, local and imported, coins and metallic objects. The results of the researches in the two necropoles were already made public by V. Mihăilescu-Bârliba.
