  • Subiect: The Grinder - ethnographic objects The grinder is a machine which is composed in an abrasive disc with a bandei or a pedal, this grinder is served to sharp the cutting tools. The name of this grinder is originally from Bulgaria, but is known under the same name in the serbian and croatian language. The grinder that I represent is different from the known in Baragan and is the Ionita Dinu creation from Gradistea village, Calarasi County. In the first way this grider is actually in a wood lathe realized by the same master (Ionita Dinu) with this object the master create peasant furniture and the other household objects. In the same time this grinder didn't find his utilities and the master transformed him into another grinder who didn't destroy the part of lathe. The sustaining part is composed by three oak wooden legs who are united between un metallic frames where it walks the mobile dolls of a lathe, now after is made a little modification at the high part and also is made un pawl in the lower part. The other side of the ax is fixed in a lathe chuck. The stone of cutting is situated in the same place with the dolls, in the lathe case is holding the cutter on the lathe and now is used like object support. The action system is composed between a belt which is situated in the left part of the grinder, fixed vertically on a big metal wheel on the lower part and another one small on the high part trained by a metal pedal - a grater - caught into a sistem crank. The move is sent to a ax catch in two legs. On the right side of the ax, from the work side is fixed the chuck which connects with the stone cutting ax. The stone cutting ax deal the wood place who will be modeled.
