Din nou despre începuturile Cetăţii Poienari

  • Subiect: Again About the Beginning of the Poienari Fortress In the paper the author points out that the building of the Poienari Fortress started at the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14-th century when the stone donjon was built. This point of view was proved along the time by the archaeological researches performed by Al. Lapedatu and Gh. I. Cantacuzino and D. V. Rosetti and A. A. Rusu and V. Sălăgeanu and S. Iosipescu and myself. It was possible that this fortress was called Castrum Argyas in the papers from the angevine court at the beginning of the 14th century. Anyway, there is no other fortified building having the features of a camp (used by the Hungarian army to camp in) except this fortress. Being an open town, Curtea de Argeş had no fortifications.
