Dovezi arheologice şi narative ale practicării agriculturii la geto-daci din Câmpia bucureşteană

  • Subiect: The authoress presents documents attesting the richness in grains of the Danubian northern plains. The wealth was mentioned by some antique authors such as Dion Chrysostomos or Arrian („Anabasis"); these documents were related to archeological discoveries (plough shares and other agricultural tools). Grain processing was attested by the discovery of rotative mills. Grains were kept in cylindrical or bell-shaped excavation. These underground storerooms were burnt before usage, so that the ashes layer on the calcinated earth walls would protect the harvest from moisture and rodents. These stores, discovered by archeological research, have been described by Criton, the doctor who accompanied the emperor Traianus on his Dacian expedition, during the years 101-106.
