Măşti funerare din patrimoniul Muzeului Municipiului Bucureşti

  • Subiect: Funeral masks have always represented interesting items in museum collections, due to their expressive capacities and their rich meanings in terms of laic rituals connected to the mnemonic patrimony of various societies. The Museum of Bucharest owns funeral masks of actors, politicians, scientists, musicians. Made either in gypsum or in bronze, these strange moulds, done by noted local sculptors such as Emil W.Becker or Vladimir C.Hegel, were often used as documentary sources for further sculptured works representing the deceased.
