  • Subiect: This short study presents some aspects of the Bulgarian habitants of Dudeşti-Cioplea, a village nearby Bucharest. There was found a document, dating from the 29th april 1577 in which one of the witnesses was Caliman of Dudeşti. In the 17th century this village was mentioned in some documents, including „Istoria Ţării Româneşti de la 1688 până in martie 1717”. It isn’t well known when the Bulgarians established in Dudeşti because they came several times in Wallachia during the 17th century and the 18th century. It isn’t known exactly when the Bishop had been set up, but we know that the first priest Vicenzo Ferreiro died by lues in 1812. The Bulgarian establisment in Cioplea is related to the one of Popeşti-Leordeni. These Bulgarians might have estabilished here during the war between Russia and Turkey (1774-1812). The Romano- Catholic Bishop’s documents offer interesting information about the inhabitant’s life. These documents reveal sights of Dudeşti village from the 19th century such as church and school’s built, the priest’s leading characters, which were representing the community. Unfortunately, during the communist period this village was included in Bucharest. Nowadays, the successors of the old village deal with modern society, which wants to build new districts on their properties ... So they have to make a choice ...
