Fibule romane din colecţiile Muzeului Judeţean Mureş

  • Subiect: The archaeological researches in the last ten-year period and the reorganisation of the museum collections threw out new Roman artefacts. In these terms, we identified few Roman broches, results of the old diggings from the Roman vicus of Cristeşti, the Roman castrum and vicus of Brâncoveneşti. Also, in excavations undertaken in the Roman vicus of Brâncoveneşti in 2007 and 2008 were founded 3 new brooches. In this study, the authors present 21 brooches in al. There are 7 types of brooches: I. Strongly profiled brooches (pl. I/1, 3-6; II/7); II. Norico-Pannonian Brooches with Knobs (pl. II/8-9); III. Knee brooches (pl. II/10-11; III/12-15); IV. Anchor brooches, (pl. III/16; IV/17); V. Penannular Brooches (pl. IV/18); VI. Brooches with returned foot (pl. IV/19-20); VII. T-shaped brooches (pl. IV/21). Brooches are a category of archaeological material with an important chronological significance. The variety of manufactured types, the manufacturing technique offers precious indications upon important aspects of the economic production, regarding the social status of the owners, the fashion along certain historical periods and the influences and the relations between provinces or between the Roman world and the Barbarians.
