Activitatea culturală a Regelui Carol I şi a Reginei Elisabeta

  • Subiect: This paper aims to sketch broadly the role played by the Royal House in shaping national culture. Each member of it had a special way to contribuie to this process. The first, Carol I is the one who founded "Charles University Foundation", that would contribuie to Romanian intellectual elite. Another concern of King Carol I was to support education at all levels. From this point of view he granted various awards, scholarships and he financially supported the dictionaries printing and geographical atlases which were distributed to schools from the capital and other countries. Queen Elizabeth, his wife wasn't satisfied with having only a "decorative role" so she got involved in all the activities which aimed to support and promote the Romanian culture both at home and abroad.
