  • Subiect: The article presents the history of Romanian numismatic research in Mongol / Tatar field. The first article dedicated to Tatar coins appear in 1960 and belongs to O. Iliescu. He published together with other scientists, treasures from Uzun Bair and Prăjesti. The last great contribution of this scientist in Tatar numismatics is a catalogue of genoese-tatar coins. His work is continued by Ernest Oberlander O. Iliescu - Tarnoveanu with essential contributions about the monetary work of the Khan Noghay and the mint of Isaccea. Eugen Nicolae discovers second Tatar mint at Sehr al-cedid, mint used by various political authorities.
