  • Subiect: The Arnaoutis Mercenarîes in Moldavîa and Wallachian Army (the 18th Century and the Beginning of the 19th Century) The Ottoman-Phanariot regime until the beginning the 18th century in Moldavia and Wallachia was exclusively relied on the military force of the Ottoman Empire, but it also relied on Balcanic elements, mercenaries from the south of Danube, Serbians, Bulgarians, Albanians, Greeks, Macedo-Romanians. All those mercenaries were known in the Phanariot period under the name of „amaoutes".
