Gruiformele din Valea Ierului

  • Subiect: 8 species of Gruiforms were identified in the Ier Valley, most of them Palearctic, Omnivores, summer guests and hatching birds, presently being more frequent during the passing, their favorite habitats being the swamps, the moors and the agricultural lands. The populations, with no exception, are in a serious decline because of the deforestation of the area during the last 30-40 years, and Otis tarda and Porzana porzana has definitely disappeared. The cause, as a consequence of the work that has been done for hydro-improving the area, is the little remaining hatching places. Therefore, our duty is to save what is left in the Ier Valley, once a very good hatching place in North-Western Romania.
