Ansamblul Romano - Catolic „Bărăţia” din Bucureşti

  • Subiect: The „Bărăţia” roman-catholic church, situated in the center of thecapital city of Romanian capital, in the proximity of the „kilometer 0” was rebuilt in several stages and is considered today as the continuer of one of the oldest religious places and the first catholic one in Bucharest. The ensemble’s history was sinuous; its first documentary mention dates from the first half of the 16th Century. For the period between the 17th and 18th Centuries the sources of information regarding this catholic monastery are mostly the foreign traverlers’ relatings, the Franciscan missionaries’ reports and correspondence, whose particular interest for the state of the catholicism in the Romanian Countries was the very purpose of their own mission. The components of the ensemble are: the church, the parish house, the tower and an additional building annexed to the tower.
