Casa Ion Mincu

  • Subiect: „This article presents the house of one of the major Romanian architects of the 19th c., known as promoter of the "Neo-Romanian" style. The edifice is one of the first creations of Ion Mincu, at that moment still in a period of artistic exploration, in a search to build-up the new style. The monument is very important not only for its commemorative value, but also for the new architectural elements which would become distinguishing for Mincu's artistic creation, as vvell as sine qua non components of the "Neo-Romanian" stylerepertoire: the braced-arch, broken arch and the round arch, short and stout columns, usage of wood for facade and interior designs. The two wings making the building, though display marks of interventions effected at different intervals (1890, 1900), visible at the level of facades, are not in disagreement with the rest of the elements, but come as a completion of the entire ensemble. Each detail is intended as a component of a whole , which does not preclude us from stating that the house, is meant as a work of art.”
