Numărul şi mărimea demografică a localităţilor din plasa Cehu Silvaniei

  • Subiect: Number and demographic size of the Cehu Silvaniei regions' localities 1850–1941 The transilvanian habitat is characterized at this time by a fluctuation in the number of places in one region, a numerical reduction in settlements and a slight increase in the number of inhabitants in most localities. The change in the number of localities belonging to the Cehu Silvaniei Region was due to administrative reorganizations, in 1820, 36 communes were registered, in 1850 – 40, 1857 – 47, between 1895 – 1938 – 48 and in 1941, 41 localities. The disappearance of any locality was not recorded, only Horoatul Cehului commune was mentioned as belonging to Cehu Silvaniei from 1936. As for the types of villages we notice a decrease in the share of the small and very small ones. The last village under 200 will be placed in the next demographic category in 1880 and the number of small settlements will be halved in this temporary period. If medium villages maintain their share throughout the period, with small variations, the large and very large villages will move substantially forward in number. If in 1850 there were five large localities, in 1941 they would reach 12. More than 2.000 inhabitants were in Cehu Silvaniei, a number reached in the 1869 census, and Hodod, the 1910 census. The increase in the demographic size of the regions' localities was due to the physical-demographic conditions of the area, the state of economic development or other less visible factors.
