Descoperiri arheologice de pe teritoriul judeţului Galaţi, atribuite populaţiilor turanice

  • Subiect: In this short intervention the author deals with a certain archaeological discoveries made into the territory of Galaţi County. The very presence of these nomads in the area between Sireth River and Pruth River was explained mainly by the similar environment conditions with the ones from the north of the Caspian Sea and Black Sea. Turanic people left various marks in this transit area, but mainly the funeral ones were identified, and this because of they way of living, in wagons or tents which left no archaeological traces. It worth underlining that the discoveries of some isolated artifacts which were worn by them it is not always stand for their very presence in the area; these artifacts can be arrived by other ways too. There were gathered 17 discoveries which, one way or another, were supposed to belong to Turanic peoples. Some of them were at list chronological and ethnic arguable and because of that the discoveries catalog can be always be revised. Only in two cases were attested isolated discoveries, in rest (87%) we deal with funerary monuments. The situation of the thirteen inhumation graves is as fallows: six are isolated graves and seven represent secondary inhumations in older mound. The funerary inventory (the published one!) is rather poor, being represented by harness elements (Drăgăneşti, Matca, Mândreşti, Moscu, Umbrăreşti, Vânători), weaponry (Matca, Mândreşti, Moscu), adornments (Bereşti, Galaţi, Matca) or even rarely containers (Bereşti?, Umbrăreşti). Mapping a few discoveries that can be assigned to the Turanic peoples pleads for the preference of these nomads for the plains next to the Danube similar with the ones from Euro Asiatic veldts.
