Consolidarea şi refacerea patinei statuii din gips „Peneş Curcanul”, aparţinând Muzeului Judeţean „Ştefan cel Mare” Vaslui

  • Subiect: Plaster statues are widely produced because they are easy to fabricate and costs are low. The artisan creates a clay model, then makes a casting mould. Strengthening the newly created object will be done with hemp fibre, and if the object is massive, a light wooden frame is necessary. The imitation option of the gypsum object is varied like; bronze, wood, marble, steel, gold, silver, etc. The "Ştefan cel Mare" Museum - Vaslui, has a collection of gypsum objects, including the statue of "Peneş Curcanul", (Constantin Ţurcanu - his real name), a vasluian hero of the independence war between 1877-1878. The gypsum object is a bronze imitation and was made to be exposed at the official opening of the museum in 1975. The article below describes the technique of consolidation and rendering of the bronze imitation.
