Campania de purificare a administraţiilor publice din judeţele Bihor, Maramureş, Satu-Mare şi Sălaj în vederea alegerilor din toamna anului 1946

  • Subiect: PURIFICATION CAMPAIGN OF THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS FROM THE COUNTIES OF BIHOR, MARAMUREŞ, SATU MARE, AND SĂLAJ, FOR THE ELECTIONS OF THE FALL OF 1946 From the moment when a confrontation with the electorate became inevitable, the Groza Government resorted to a wide range of measures to ensure success în elections. One of the most important thing was baking the administrative apparatus with politically loyal elements. The campaign of changing mayors, deputy-mayors, and notaries from 1946, had as a main objective the modification of the public administration structure. In order to simplify the procedure, the county prefects were given permission to name the mayors and the deputy-mayors by decision, whereas the proposals were made by the local politica! councils, being approved by those at county level. Shortly, all the mayors, deputy-mayors and notaries have been replaced and the civil servants from the local public administration were forced to make democratic politics, to enroll in the politica! organizations represented in the government, or at least to become their sympathizer. Even if the changes in administration haven't lead to a real success in elections, they have eased forgery in elections.
