Un ierarh moldovean mai puţin cunoscut din secolul al XVIII-lea, Ghedeon - episcop al Huşilor şi al Romanului

  • Subiect: Bishop Ghedeon from Secu was a person who said too little about himself in our historiography. Since the attempts to discover facts from his life were not that successful, his name only ended up in an index from the 18th century. The initial idea was to write a biographical entry, collecting bits of information from different sources. After some thorough investigation of the period he lived in, of his deeds, connections and the expectations of his time, me and my fellow historians reached the conclusion that we’re dealing with a complex man. The 15 years in which he was the head of two episcopacies, Huşi (1728 - 1734) and Roman (1734 - 1743), were quite eventful in regard to establishing connections with the important people of the time. This current study only focuses on the first pages of the biography, so as to paint a clearer picture of who Ghedeon was and what he represented to his era. The subject will be discussed in more detail after future research.
