Ia Neam(ţ)ului

  • Subiect: The project IA NEAM(Ţ)ULUI had as goal and purpose the reclaiming and promotion of women's traditional blouses in the collection hosted by Piatra Neamţ Ethnography Museum. Thus, twenty traditional Romanian blouses - "ia" - were reproduced in partnership with 19 women members of the traditional sewing group "Şezătoarea de Piatra". The oldest pieces were dated around 1900 and the latest right in de time of World War. Most of the blouses had belonged to women in the villages of Bistriţa Valley. They were made of home spun hemp or cotton cloth and decorated with dyed cotton thread, beads and sequins. The project lasted for ten months and its results were presented in an exhibition of the old blouses and their copies, accompanied by a catalogue.
