Subiect: Among the undisputed hierarchies of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Iacov Stamati has a place of honor. Born in Transylvania in 1749, he was raised and educated by the great clergymen of the Neamţ Monastery, where he was invested as a monk, and he started to wear the monastic robe.
Demonstrating high moral and spiritual qualities, he went through all the hierarchical steps, becoming elected bishop of Huşi - where he pastored for ten years - and then he became metropolitan of Moldavia between 1792-1803. Although he shepherded in tumultuous times, marked by wars and great shortages, with frequent changes of lords, he managed to face the countless challenges.
