Campania armatei române din Ungaria în anul 1919 – rolul diviziei 7 infanterie din Roman

  • Subiect: The campaign of the Romanian army in Hungary in the year of 1919 - the role of the 7th infantry division from Roman The first mobilised units had been those from Moldova that used to form the 4th army division. Among these units had also been the unit from Roman, the 7th division Infantry. The first great units that crossed the Carpathian Mountains Were the 7th division Infantry and the 1st division Hunters, the first at Prisăcani-Tulgheş and the second at Palanca-Ghimeş. Interesting to note is the fact that at that time the 7th division Infantry was under the command of general Traian Moşoiu, who commanded the great division from Roman between 25th of May and 10 December 1918. After the Great Union that took place on the 1st of December 1918, general Traian Moşoiu had become a military governor of Transylvania. At the time of the mobilisation decree, the 7th division Infantry had occupied a fighting point in Piatra Neamţ. The National Romanian Council from Transylvania had to request support from the government in Iaşi because of the wrong actions made against the Romanian people by some combatants from the hungarian guards. The 7th division Infantry had rounded up the 14, 15, 16 and 27 Infantry regiments that were established from 13 and 14 brigade and also two artillery batteries, a squad from the 8th regiment Călăraşi „Roman”, a pioneer battalion and some other subunits and formations. After the Peace conference held in Paris, had established a neutral zone between Arad-Salonta-Oradea-Carei-Satu Mare, the division occupied new lines of defence. On the 21st of March 1919, the power in Hungary had been taken by the communists, who had formed the Soviet Hungarian Republic of Advices led by Bela Kun. The new hungarian authorities had refused to accept a solution that had been made at the Paris Peace Conference and in consequence they had increased their military actions against the Romanian forces. In these conditions, the High Romanian Commandment had planned a great offensive operation that would have the purpose to repel the Hungarian troops beyond the neutral line established by the allies. In the new offensive device adopted by the Great Romanian H.Q., the 7th division Infantry Roman had been included in the „North Group '', alongside the 2nd division Cavalry and the 6th division Infantry.
