Portret de muzeograf

  • Subiect: The article contains the results of the sociologica! research conducted in May - December 2001 in the museums of the Republic of Moldova, with the exception of those located in the eastem part of the republic. Research was carried out by the MUSEION cultural scientific association, with the financial support of the grant provided by the SOROS Foundation of Moldova. The objective of the investigation was the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the museographic potential of the republic, determination of the essential characteristics of the profession of museographer and the problems and difficulties faced by curators during the period of transition to market economy. The results of the research confirm a particularly difficult state of the museums of the republic and substantiate the hardships confronted by the curators. Curators are not a group of professionals well paid and appreciated by the society and are not well adaptable to the conditions of market economy. They have not acquired and, thus, do not practice the market economy concepts of management and marketing. Although confronted by a diversity of difficulties, curators remain faithful to their profession. The author considers the necessity of a structural and institutional reform to create a single juridical frame to favor the development of museums, to create an efficient single system of social protection of curators. The author believes without a serious reform the further development of the museums of the Republic of Moldova is not possible.
