Meşteşugurile în judeţul Severin în anii 1944-1948

  • Subiect: The tendency of constraining a social category highly representative for the urban life of that period was one of the main concerns of P. Groza's cabinet and of the Communist Party as well. Providing raw materials for craftsmen and obtaining loans for a better development of the activity were also problems of great concern for the local authorities. The improvement of the professional qualification was also among the activities of local authorities, problems that determined an improvement in the crafts activities. Local profile syndicate leaders closely supervised surreptitious workers and the deliverance of materials for the state became a sine qua non condition to unseal some craftsmen shops which were closed at the beginning of 1948, under different pretexts. Even though confronted with serious material problems between 1945 and 1946, the craft workers from Severin County got involved in various social, cultural and artistic actions, spreading new ideas in favour of the government, in a period when the grant of funds for a better development of craft workshops was subordinated to the communist regime installed at Bucharest.
