Contribuţii privind cercetarea civilizaţiei materiale din Banat, în epoca migraţiilor

  • Subiect: This issue presents synthetically the results of the researches made at Jabăr (Timiş district) in the Dacian-Roman and pre-feudal area - „Cătun” settlement (especially those of 1979-1980 and 1982-1983 archaeological campaigns), as a point of view to enrich the archaeological documents regarding the history of Banat in the migratory times. The observations relative to the archaeological excavations have found out the existence of „an actual handicraft centre specialized in iron ore processing”, as the settlement has two successive habitable levels, we mean the Dacian-Roman one (4th - 5th AD) and the pre-feudal one (6th - 8th AD). Six human habitations have been uncovered as well as an abundant archaeological material. We have to remark here a paleo Christian seal with cross (1st a. and b. fig.), arrowheads, a black glass bead with decoration, and ceramics made by hand or by the slow or to the quick pottery wheel. The pottery presents analogies with Sântana de Mureş manifestations, as well as with Ipoteşti - Ciurelu - Cândeşti cultural area.
