Subiect: Historical Consideration Concerning the Early Feudal Fortifications from the Sălaj District
The first medieval fortifications erected in the Sălaj district in the 9th-13th centuries were the castra. The stone feudal castles, made began to be built in the 13th century. Three castra and four feudal castles are known so far.
The organization and the activity in these fortifications were rather complex. The life around them relied on the Rumanian rural communities with their particular structure.
The investigation of the fortifications from Sălaj brings a contribution to reconstitute a part from the history of the Middle Ages. It reveals specifically aspects which are not far apart of the general Transylvanian pattern.
