Anii revoluţionari 1848-1849 în valea Someşului sălăjean

  • Subiect: Events in the Years 1848-1849 in the Someş Area of the Sălaj District The revolutionary year of 1848 had a strong echo in the Someş Valley. The basic pretensions of the population in this area, mainly Romanian, coincided with those of the whole people: the abolition of rights of rights, political and cultural rights and equal to other nationalities. In March 1848, the Polish Diet (Bratislava) legalized the abolition of slavery, but neglected the issue of cohabitation of nationalities, their rights being replaced by the vague notion of "equal rights" for all citizens. In addition the new constitution confirmed the annexation of the Hungarian Party. The party included Zarand, the Solnoc center and the Chioar districts considered as 1848 parts of Transylvania. In another article it was decided to complete the annexation of Transylvania in Hungary. These arbitrary decisions, ignoring the wishes of the Romanian people in the province and the delay in the abolition of feudalism, led to an acute state of dissatisfaction and revolt. The claims of the Romanian nation expressed at the great Blaj assembly on 3 May 1848 in an advanced revolutionary program were not taken into account either by the Transylvanian diet (representative of the Hungarian nobility) or by the Pest government. The Austrian government took advantage of these divisions, hoping to win the Romanians for their part. The Hungarian government began a series of long and atrocious repressions against the Romanians, who were not sufficiently armed and did not have the support of the Austrians. The inhabitants of Someş Valley, an important strategic area for defending Transylvania, took part in events and came out of these events with serious human and material losses.
