  • Subiect: Aaron Florian's Contribution to the Development of national Historiography In his paper the author tries to re-evaluate the work of a historian of the 19th century. Chronologically Aaron Florian belongs to the period of the crystallization of Romanticism in Romanian historiography. Owing to the problems he dealt with he preceded Mihail Kogălniceanu and Nicolae Bălcescu, two historians of great fame in whose work the Romantic vision has reached a large scape. The critica! study of Aaron Florian's works have made clear the distinctive features of Romantic historiography in his tendency for positive appreciation of the middle ages and of the national traditions in the politica! and cultural fields.
