Câteva observaţii asupra materialului faunistic din Cluj-Napoca - Statuia Memorandiştilor

  • Subiect: Some observations about bone material from Cluj-Napoca - statue of „Memorandiştilor” The animal bone material recovered in the spring of 1994 resulted from the collecting work during the salving excavation in the center of Cluj-Napoca belonging to the Cluj-Cheile Turzii-Lumea Nouă Culture of 4600-3800 B.C. This sample is not large at all, it indudes 82 bone fragments resulted from 4 domestic species: Bos taurus (cattle), Ovis/Capra (sheep or goat), Sus scrofa domesticus (pig), Canis familiaris (dog) ancl 3 wilcl species: Cervus elaphus, Capreolus capreolus (red and roe cleer), sus scrofa ferus (wild pig). The cattle is the predominant group therefore they were the main meat suppliers. The sample of caprovines is very small and so is that of wild animals. Maybe the game was of secondary importance. There are 6 burnt bone fragments and 3 having signs of working; 2 of them have very well polished walls and the third is a metatarsus which has some transverse,11 cuts on the proximal epiphysis.
