Protecţia antiseismică a muzeelor

  • Subiect: Seismic Protection of Museums The strong earthquakes caused important casualties, economic losses in Romania and, in some cases, damage to museums, libraries, art objects with great historical and cultural value and other valuable contents. In the last few years, the Romanian authorities introduced the obligation to evaluate seismic protection of the existing building stock and to provide interventions comparable to that required by the safety level of the codes in force. The paper will introduce specific protection measures applicable to display art objects, furniture, personnel and visitors, complementary to those prescribed by the design codes for structures. The most important categories of museums, exhibitions and libraries, rooms with specific functions, whose types of art object, furniture and equipment as well as the presence and number of exposed persons are different, were analyzed.
