Izvoarele scrise şi descoperirile arheologice despre romanicii de la nordul Dunării de Jos, în secolele IV-VIII d.Hr.

  • Subiect: „The Byzantine writings offer little information about the Dacian-Roman population from the north of the Lower Danube for the period of the 4th-8th centuries. Historians from the empire, such as Salvianus, Amianus Marcellinus, Procopius of Caesarea, and others, recall only some Romanes who lived among the alogens, referring only to Latinophone prisoners and to the fugitives from the southern areas of the river attacked by migrants. The realities in the Carpathian-Danubian space are, however, very well highlighted by the archaeological researches that prove the existence of material cultures of late Roman origin, and also many elements and influences of the Byzantine civilization. During the 4th-8th centuries many Christian vestiges are attested as well as an intense circulation of Byzantine coins and a large quantity of imports from the Empire. Political and military events in the southeastern European regions have led to many ethno-demographic, cultural and spiritual transformations that have contributed to the preservation of Oriental Romanity within the Carpatho-Danubian space.”
