Subiect: In the zone la bora tory of restoration-conservation from Sibiu, a "HABAN" Transylvanian tile entered in order to be restored. It was made in Vinţu de Jos in 1717. This tile is part of an ensemble of tiles which formed a heating oven with an inner warming source. This oven was ordered and performed for the nobiliary courts or castles from Transylvania. We deduced this from the initials G and M. Under them, we can see a two-headed-eagle in a frame wearing an imperial crown, the sword and the sceptre, including the year 1717.
Owing to the bad conservation state and to a progressive process of degradation, we had to proceed fast to a restoration of the object. This process included complex leaning, consolidation, completion operations, as well as chromatic integration and conservation operations.
The restored object can be seen in the framework of the permanent tile exhibition from the „Emil Sigerus" Museum from Sibiu.
