Fabricile de bere în patrimoniul viitorului

  • Subiect: Breweries in the patrimony of the future General considerations and comparative analysis on case studies Rehabilitation of the industrial patrimony is one of the highest necessities of the moment, due to the enormous changes of our present society and to the ecological perspective concerning contemporary building. In this context, breweries occupy a special place, because of the remarkable style of their architecture, of the exciting process of beer fabrication and of their adaptability to functional changes. The paper also confronts the destiny of three European breweries, in different rehabilitation stages: the Rahova brewery (the former Bragadiru enterprise), the most valuable part of which is now almost in ruin and in which a Mall will be built, the El Águila brewery from Madrid, Spain, transformed in thc Art and Culture Centre of the Madrid Community, inaugurated in 2003, and the Timişoreana brewery from Timişoara (which kept its original function till now). The comparison, drawn through a multicriteria analysis, which tries to be as complete as possible, is exciting, leading to useful principles of general strategy on the rehabilitation of the industrial patrimony. Though placed on such different geographic coordinates, the three buildings have much more in common than function; and maybe first is their quality of being architectural monuments, vividly present in the collective conscience.
