In early 19th century Bucharest a great „divergence of contrasts” was all played, such that each family or professional group was conscious of making the help from old to new and of course, of the financial possibilities of each to enable them to achieve this, for visitors from outside who were not really familiar with this situation Bucharest seemed amaying in its discordant juxtaposition of wealth and luxury in one hand, poverty and squalor on the other.
