Interpretări etnice ale monumentelor funerare din interfluviul pruto-nistrean de la mijlocul mileniului I a.Chr

  • Subiect: The ethnic interpretation of funerary sites from the Prut-Dniester interfluve of the middle of first millenium B.C. Archaeological remains from the middle of the first millennium B.C. in the Prut-Dniester region have a particular importance for ethnic interpretations thanks to the role they play in reconstruction of cultural processes from the end of the first Iron Age. The biritual necropolis of Dănceni, the tomb of cremation of Pîrjolteni and the tomb of inhumation of Suruceni constitute together a horizon of connection between two cultural traditions: thraco-getian and scythian. Controversies regarding their ethnocultural explanation are generated by different approaches of certain categories of remains. For some researches the pottery and cremation rite are most relevant in the ethnic interpretation, demonstrating a „getian” affiliation, linked to local „hallstattian” traditions. Others purpose that presence of inhumation, weapons and of pieces of animal style art demonstrate predominantly the „scythian” affiliation. In both cases the interference of two cultural traditions is accepted.
