  • Subiect: The historical study of the south-west area of Ploiesti Ploieşti town, documentary known from middle of XVI th century, became fair during the reign of Mihai Viteazul and before 1774, it became the residence of the rulers from Prahova district. Ploiesti city had a slow development. After 1821, in the same time with the installation of the native reigns, especially after 1831, in Ploiesti city starts a new economic and political life rhythm. A convincing proof of the swiftness of the developing of the city Ploiesti after 1831, represents the fact that in 1849 Ploiesti became the fourth city from Wallachia, only Bucharest, Braila and Craiova had more population. The west area of Ploiesti city (former St. Haralambie suburb), starts to develop after the comming into operation of the Structural Regulations. In this way, by 1830-1840 here settled new inhabitants of Ploiesti city - from Targsor and neighbouring villages. The development of Ploiesti city smartened from middle XIX TH century, one of the most developed areas was the south–west part of the city. The south–west area from Ploiesti through Targsor street (today Marasesti) connects the centre of the city to Predeal - Ploiesti - Bucuresti highway (a throughfar from economic point of view because it connects Wallachia to Transylvania- built between 1846-1866 and completed with railway on the same route in 1879). The south – west part – new area of Ploiesti city, in the beginning inhabited by poor people, extended and developed in the course of time. In present there are houses and modern block of flats, a sport hall with a park and a stadium of football.
