”Strada”: a cincea putere în stat?

  • Subiect: ”The street”: fifth power in the state? The present study subscribes to the analysis of a topic of immediate history, namely the investigation of the role and place of street demonstrations in determining future policy decisions after the fateful event taking place in the Colectiv Bucharest night club on the night of 30 October 2015. Besides the accumulated anxieties, including the situation in that „place of death”, the reasons why Romanians protested are manifold, but the most important were the political and economic ones: the disappearance of the corrupt and compromised political class and a better situation in terms of the standard of living for everyone. But fundamental for „the street” was how people were mobilized, rationality of claims, continuity of protests over several days, the youthful air and ease of participants. Also, important is the fact that this „street” (civil society) makes us think if it has become the fifth state power, whether it is a „mass of interdiction” or a „mass of revival” (Elias Canetti).
