Cap de statuetă romană aflat în colecţiile Muzeului Municipal Mediaş. Scurte consideraţii istorice şi arheologice

  • Subiect: Few historical and arheological considerations regarding the character of a roman small head of limestone from the collections of the Municipal Museum from Medias This article present some short considerations about a small head of limestone (inv. 4319), from a statue of Apollo, belonging to the Belvedere type. The monument is 15 cm long and 10 cm wide (Fig. 7 a-d). Considering that only the head is 9,8 cm high, the whole hight of the statue may had been of ca. 70 cm. According to the information offered, it was brought here in 1960 from the „Ilie Pintilie” collection from Biertan.The single analogy from Dacia, belonging to this type of piece, is offered by a head of an Apollo statue, of marble, descovered in 1900, in Apulum, in an area of the praetorium consularis, and was dated by Radu Ota during the age of Antonini or maybe in the early Severian age.
