O nouă perspectivă asupra scufundării legendarului portavion britanic HMS Ark Royal (14 noiembrie 1941)

  • Subiect: A new perspective on the sinking of the legendary british aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal – november 14, 1941 German Führer Adolf Hitler comand Kriegsmarine (German Navy War) to send six submarines and a Flotilla of torpedo ”S” Mediterranean to help Italian ally to control waterways to Libya. In the afternoon of November 13, 1941, the German submarine U-81 (Cdt. Kapitänleutnant, Friedrich Guggenberger)at or near Gibraltar launched four long-range torpedoes for two large ships of the British, who returned after a convoy escorted to Malta. These were the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal and HMS battleship Malaya. The only British carrier ship was hit. Successive explosions followed and HMS Ark Royal in spite of sustained efforts to be hauled on the basis of Gibraltar, finally, was capsized and sank.
