  • Subiect: Gheorghe Cristescu Plapumaru's friends and the ”Spring Prague” The resolute attitude that Nicolae Ceausescu had against the brutal crush of the civil righs movement that remained known in history under the name of ”Prague Spring”, made by the army of URSS, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Democratic German Republic against Czechoslovakia, in the summer of 1968, increased the popularity of the romanian leader in the country and all over the world. In that period of time in Romania some reforms started to give people the hope of a better life. Nicolae Ceausescu’s radical judgement of the army intervention from the Warsaw Pact in Czechoslovakia was consent by the majority of romanians. Ceausescu started to gain sympathy from the old socialist activists, that were removed and abandoned or even arrested on Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej’s time. Some letters of Gheorghe Cristescu-Plăpumarul’s friends, the first socialist secretary general of the Comunist Party of Romania, reflect their accession to Nicolae Ceausescu’s internal and external actions.
