  • Subiect: The restoration of icon Saint Nicholas, part of the collection of Orthodox Church of Canela The icon Saint Nicholas it’s part of the collection of Orthodox Church of Canela. The principal degradation which reduced the resistance of wooden panel was caused by the xylophagous attack (Anobium punctatum). In this paper are explained the principal stages of icon restoration process, from consolidation of wooden panel to cleaning with solvents and reviving the original aspect of icon kept along the time under layers of dust and browned varnishes.
