  • Subiect: Angelo de Gubernatis– A Got interested to the romanian culture Angelo de Gubernatis is one of the key figures in Italian oriental studies of the 19th century. His passion in this field was accompanied by the interest in the cultural and spiritual elements that brought Latin people together. This is the context in which the Italian man of letters got interested in the Romanian culture and became a friend of the Romanian people. He appreciated and admired numerous Romanian writers as Elena Ghica, known as Dora d’Istria or V.A. Urechia, which became his friends. He travelled to Romania twice and wrote about his experiences here. In the dictionaries he published at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century he included numerous Romanian writers and poets.
