Colinda de Crăciun la Gura Râului

  • Subiect: Carols sung in Gura Raului Carols were first pagan songs, sung at the Winter Solstice celebrations all over Europe. It is not clear who wrote them, where they originated, and how they evolved. Caroling is an oral tradition passed down from generation to generation, being associated with Christmas only after Christianity began to rise and spread through Europe. The paper presents different opinions on the evolution and meaning of carols in Romanian area, as well as the most important profane and sacred carols sung in Gura Raului, an old village nearby Sibiu.
