Contribuţia locuitorilor oraşului Făgăraş la Fondul Jertfelor Liniei Demarcaţionale (1919)

  • Subiect: The contribution of the inhabitants of the city of Făgăraş to The Border Line Victim’s Fund (1919) Oltul newspaper, no. 46 of June 24, 1919 and no. 54 of July 22 recorded a number of 71 donations made by the inhabitants of Făgăraş to the Sacrifice Fund of the Demarcation Line. The summ donated amounted to 2.045 crowns. Of the 71 donations, 54, totaling 1.425 crowns, belonged to the Romanian ethnic group, and 17 to the inhabitants of other ethnic groups. Of the 17 donations, eight donations (395 crowns) were made by the Saxons, four donations (100 crowns) were made by Hungarians, four donations (75 crowns) were made by Jews, and one donation (50 crowns), was made by an Italian. It is very possible that the number and total amount of donations made by the inhabitants of Făgăraş were higher. The Romanian Telegraph newspaper registers between May 24 and July 1 collections of the inhabitants of Făgăraş in a total amount of 2.386 crowns. The donation of 1.647 crowns, attributed by the newspaper Renaşterea Română to the Townhall of Făgăraş, remains debatable because the newspaper Telegraful Român attributes it to the Townhall of Sibiu.
