Primele mărci poştale cu imaginea lui Nicolae Ceauşescu au apărut în Coreea de Nord

  • Subiect: The first postage stamps with the image of Nicolae Ceausescu appeared in North Korea Both in the interwar and in the communist period there was a custom not to issue postage stamps with living personalities. There were very few exceptions. The cult of Nicolae Ceauşescu's personality was not very present on Romanian postage stamps. The first Romanian postage stamp dedicated to the „beloved leader” appeared late, only in 1985, when the inauguration of the Danube-Black Sea Canal occasioned the issuance of a souvenir sheet that reproduced the portraits of the Ceausescu couple. Later, two more stamps appeared with the portrait of Nicolae Ceauşescu. It is a little known fact that the first postage stamp with the image of Nicolae Ceauşescu appeared in North Korea, in December 1984. The reasons that generated the ban on the sale of this stamp in Romania are unknown. The article deals with this unclear aspect of Romanian political propaganda.
